THE COMPLETE GUIDE ON HOW TO TURN A BAD HAIR DAY AROUND.

Whether your hair is straight, curly, coarse, fine, long, or short, we all have them…..BAD HAIR DAYS!!! Life cannot stop just because your hair decided to act up; as women we must pull out some new tricks from our hair care arsenal and keep rolling. In this guide to turning around a bad hair day, we will give you some ideas on nourishing your hair on those bad days and tips on keeping the styling cute even when your hair decides to do its own thing.

Cover It Up

So, the quickest and easiest thing to do when your hair won’t cooperate is to make sure it is moisturized with a water based product and seal in the moisture with a cream or oil like our shea butter. Once you ensure your hair is moisturized, grab your favorite beanie, decorative scarf, or hat and place on your head. African print scarves are very popular right now, and you can never go wrong with a hipster beanie. Who wouldn’t feel their inner diva with a Formation Wide Brimmed hat??!?!? If your covering is made of wool or cotton, be sure to create a barrier between your hair and the covering by using a silk or satin scarf to help lock in the moisture you just put in. These materials can literally suck the moisture out of your hair, so i f you don’t want to wake up with another bad hair day or damage your hair, make sure to protect it. If you have an important meeting or work in a corporate environment, covering your hair may not be a feasible solution for you, however, if you will be in a more relaxed environment, this is a very trendy way to save your hair and still look great.

Messy Buns and Puffs

Just like with a hat, beanie, or scarf, the type of environment you’re going into will determine if you can pull this style off or not. If you need to get to a corporate meeting, make sure your edges are sleek and this style will fit that environment. However, if you’re in a more relaxed environment, don’t even worry about the edges. Moisturize and seal in the moisture with your favorite oil or cream and smooth up to the crown of your head. Grab your favorite scrunchie or hair tie and wrap around a few times, and voila. You can dress it up with a cute headband, scarf, or flower if you would like or you can leave it as is. Be careful not to overdo this hairstyle because it can cause tension on your edges and the hair at the crown, but it’s totally acceptable to rock this style in just about any locale.

Braids and Twists

Braided styles have always been popular and ever since Jennifer Lawrence came on the scene as Katniss Everdeen of, The Hunger Games, the variety of braids has exploded. Braids are one of those hairstyles that can be dressed up or down, so depending on the style, it is very easy to go from the boardroom, to your cousin’s wedding, t o playing with your children. The only drawback is that braids typically don’t work for short hair. Depending on the amount of time you have and your skill level, you can try just one large braid going straight back, pigtail braids, cornrows, fishtail braid, or box braids. The awesome thing about braids is that they are a protective style and give your hair a break for anywhere from 2 days to 3 months depending upon your hair type and the kind of braids you decide to try. Yes, you read correctly…3 months!!! If you have a more coarse texture and have a braided style with added hair, then you may be able to get away with rocking your style for a lot longer. Make sure to moisturize your scalp with a creamy product like our shea butter, and you can also wash your braids as well.

Everyone hates when their hair doesn’t quite turn out how they expected, but just r emember to protect your hair and think outside of the box to turn your bad hair int o good hair.
